Jef Buffat, a life marked out for the sport At 11, Jef started to play basketball in the club of Champel, in Geneva, where he did all his juniors' classes untill he reached the first team, in the segond national league, LNB. He remained faithfull to basketball in spite of his attraction for all the ball's sports, often practiced in parallel. It is also in the same club that he discovered his taste for coaching, being with 18 years old allready juniors' trainer. In 1981, best scorer of the LNB, he was spotted by the SF Lausanne with wich he signed his first contract, reaching a status he never dreamed, because of his small size (180cm). 10 years of professional playing, which will bring him to the national team, 1985, to the title of the swiss championship, 1987, with Pully, to 3 participations in the European Cup, to 10 seasons consecutively in th play-off. First experience as trainer/player at 24 years with the BC Monthey, in the LNA and European Cup, he repeated in 1992 with the BC Epalinges which goes up unbeaten from the 1LN to the LNB. In 1993/94 he trained juniors' teams in theTicino for Bellinzone. Practicing faithfully beach volley since the begining of the eighties, thanks to he keeps in shape during the summer, he hanged up his basketball shoes, when in 1995, il decided to emigrate to Brazil. In Cumuruxatiba, where was born his first son, he set his first sandy ground and iniciated the young of the village to this new olympic sport where the Brazilians just knocked down the supremacy of the USA. Leading a group which practices daily, he invested allways more in the beach volley. Those are the first steeps of the Beach Volley Center. In 2004, Jef specialised definitively him self through a trainer class he made with the Brazilian Confederation of Volleyball. 3 grounds , the central one with spotlight, better accomodations eevery year, this is the perfect spot to welcome the fanatics of beach all year long |
